Bulgaria operates a vignette based system for vehicles under 3500kg GVW and are available in durations of 1 week, 1 month and 1 year. They can be purchased either at the border as you cross in to Bulgaria or at most major fuel stations. It must be applied to the windscreen of the vehicle to be valid !
Winter Driving
Winter tyres are not mandatory but are recommended during the winter months. Snow chains must be carried between 1st November and 31st March
